Making the Correct Choice for College

For those students who plan on going to college once they are done with high school, the selection of which college can be a very difficult process to go through. A lot of stress can be put on the shoulders of students who have to go through this. It is perhaps one of the biggest decisions that people make throughout their years. It is a decision that will affect what someone may be doing for the rest of their lives.

Many factors go into the college selection process. These are different for each student, but they are all very important to help the student find the right school for them. These are all basic questions that universities and things like CollegeBoard would ask the regular student, but they are very important and they are things that shouldn’t just be blown off when they are asked. These factors are very important in helping a student make the proper choice for their college.

Now, there are countless questions that students are asked, but Jamie Lawrence specified a few of them to her needs and explained what she is looking for in a university. “Personally, the first thing that I look for in a college is whether or not they have my major,” Jamie explained. “If they don’t have my major to begin with, they probably won’t be the right fit for me. I also look for some other factors too, such as distance from home and scholarship opportunities.”

Speaking of scholarships, those are also very important things that aren’t exactly required for selecting a college, but they are something that would be extremely beneficial to a student that either doesn’t have the money or plans on going to a bigger school that costs more money. If that student has worked hard in school and its activities, then scholarships will be able to help them pay for college.

Jamie once again elaborated but this time on a different topic, the importance of scholarships. “Apply for as many scholarships as possible. All the money you can get helps. I really don’t want to be paying off student loans down the road in my life, and scholarships can help really help me avoid that.”

As grueling as the college selection process can be, it will help students further themselves as people for the future. They will be making one of the biggest decisions of their lives as the exit high school to be able to earn a degree. Hopefully, every student takes the proper measures to make the right selection for them.
