J-M National Honor Society hosts walk for Monongahela Valley Hospital

Jefferson Morgan National Honor Society will host a walk for Monongahela Valley Hospital on Sunday, May 21 from 1-4 pm.

The walk will take place at the Greene River Trail (beginning at Greene Cove Marina, walk to Rices Landing Trailhead, then back to Greene Cove). The walk will cover a total of 5 miles. Registration for the walk begins at 12:30 PM, and the walk begins at 1:00 PM.

Senior Emma Frank is president of the National Honor Society. “The walk is my President’s Project for NHS, and we are trying to raise money for Monongahela Valley Hospital,” said Frank.

Participants must register for the event by April 24 in order to purchase a t-shirt. Registration is  $20. Children under the age of 8 may participate in the walk free, but must order. Checks can be made payable to Jefferson-Morgan NHS

Registration for participants is available on the day of the race. There will be a fee of $10, and participants will not receive a T-shirt. Registration forms and checks should be mailed to Michelle Huba, Jefferson-Morgan High School, 1351 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, PA 15344.

I chose to do a benefit for Mon Valley because this hospital has done so much to help my grandparents, Onufry and Shirley Babilya, in the past few years,” said Frank. “My family and I really appreciate the hospital, and I wanted to do something to give back.”

Registration forms are available for students from Mrs. Huba in Room 201. Forms are due Monday, April 24 if applicants wish to receive a T-shirt. For more information visit the Jefferson-Morgan NHS Walk for Mon Valley Hospital Facebook page.

For anyone who is participating in the walk, Frank says, “Thank you for helping us to raise money for Monongahela Valley Hospital! We really appreciate your contribution and that you took the time to come out and help us!”
