Camryn Dugan – Athlete Biography

Camryn Dugan is a junior and member of the softball team. She has played softball for around 9 years and plays second base.

As with all sports softball has it’s many challenges. When Camryn was asked what the most challenging part about playing softball was she said, “Being consistent with hitting, because without hitting you can’t score any runs”. Hitting being her biggest challenge she has to work harder to achieve her goals. The outcome of working hard was when Camryn hit two back to back home-runs against Wayneburg last season.

Her personal goal for the season is to be a well-rounded player for the team. She works on this sport in the off season by going to the batting cages now and then. Camryn tries to model herself after her dad who she greatly looks up to and has taught her most of what she knows about the sport.

Most athletes learn a lot over the years of playing and can be a big help to younger athletes trying to learn the sport. When asked what advice she would give to a first year athlete who wants to play this sport Camryn said “Keep focused and set goals to achieve.” Setting goals is an important part of any sport and without knowing where you want to get you will never get there.

Camryn finds her biggest motivation to play this sport in her dad who taught her how to play. Camryn does not intend to participate in this sport beyond high school but is going to continue to play for the rest of her high school career.
