Track season has officially ended for those, who did not make it past WPIAL Qualifiers and onto the finals at Baldwin. During the season, those who did an excellent job in their events, and qualified for WPIAL’s, went to South Side Beaver for the individual aspect of the sport. Jefferson-Morgan sent 12 total athletes to the qualifiers at South Side Beaver on Thursday, May 12, 2016. The number of athletes, who participated were mainly made up of boy athletes, 9 exactly, and the rest were girls, 3 to be exact.

At the qualifiers, the weather was a bit unexpected, rain slightly poured down, and then sun and a mixture of clouds rolled in. The rest of the day, weather wise, was fantastic for the athletes, who came out and participated.

At the qualifiers, the boys 400-meter relay team, Erik Sullenbarger, Aaron Mylan, Adam Hobe, Nathan Kumer, and Dustin Schimansky all went to participate for the boy’s aspect of the day. For the girls, Jamie Lawrence, Abby Phillips and Tyler Woolen, all made appearances as well.

Towards the end of the day, only one athlete, Aaron Mylan, successfully made it to the next part of the WPIAL’s, which will be held in Baldwin, on Thursday, May 19, 2016. Mylan made himself very proud, when he was told that he placed 5th in the 1 mile run, and 7th in the 2 mile run. His parents and his teammates have been an inspiration to him from when he started the sport of track and they wish him good luck in the finals.
In conclusion, the WPIAL qualifiers was an excellent day for Jefferson-Morgan, as once again Aaron Mylan is headed to the finals. Overall, this year has been a very productive and successful one for every athlete, who came out for the team and made it to the big meets.
