Directory+Signs

Big changes have been happening recently to the Jefferson – Morgan High School. The biggest one being the addition of air conditioning, a luxury previously not there. But it is the details that make a school a school. Whether it be lighting strips to illuminate the walkways in the auditorium or gigantic rocket signs in the hallway. Details make a world a difference, and that is why more signs will be posted throughout the building.

Currently, there are orange and black directory signs in the gymnasium that point people in the right direction. For example, there are directory signs above the two doors to enter the gymnasium that tell people which side is home and away. Additionally, there is a sign that states no food or drink in the gymnasium. In the gymnasium, there a four larger signs. On the right side of the gymnasium, the home side, there are two signs indicating the JM home seats and the JM student section seats. On the left side of the gym, the away side, the last two signs indicate that those seats are for visitors.

“These signs are helpful for people who haven’t been to our school before,” said Mr. Orr. “If I was someone who has never been to the gym before, I would have no idea where to sit.”

These are not the only signs that will be put up. There will be a sign above the auditorium entrance also stating no food or drink, and new signs throughout the building. Some of these signs will indicate the direction of the business and main offices with arrows pointing in their direction, and others will be placed on doors to state what that room is.

“All the paper signs on the walls and doors will be replaced with new orange and black signs,” explained Mr. Headley, the new director of facilities. “I think these signs will add to the overall appearance of the school and surely help people find their way.”

The new signs are suppose to be going up throughout the school year as the renovation comes to a close. Also, any idea for school improvement can be discussed with Mr. Orr or members of student council; all ideas are good ideas. As it is said, it’s all in the details.
