Starbucks Hiring 10,000 Refugees

Starbucks plans on hiring over thousands of refugees. They say that they are going to try to hire over 10,000 refugees in five years.

The CEO Howard Schultz and Chairman have sent out a message to all the employees in the response of the banning travel from Muslim countries. The banning travel was one of President Trump’s executive orders. The message that was sent to the employees consisted of “to reinforce our belief in our partners around the world.”

The proposal of hiring refugees are focusing on the ones who have helped the U.S. troops as interpreters and support personnel. Schultz also said it would help support the undocumented immigrants the were brought over when they were children. The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program was created in 2012 by President Obama through and executive order.

Starbucks is now ready to support their Mexican customers, partners, and families. Kline said. “Good for Starbucks, they are doing what they think is right” Starbucks is a business that tries to inspire and nurture the human spirit. Starbucks isn’t the only one that is against the travel ban.General Electric and several other executives have denounced the travel ban.

There are pros and cons on Starbucks hiring 10,000 refugees. Some of the cons are that it takes away jobs from us citizens. Journic said, “I think that it’s not right to hire 10,000 refugees because it takes away the jobs from the people in our country.” The pros are that Starbucks will have more employees and they would be making more profit for their company.
