Leo Club

The Leo club has plenty of activities planned for the next few months.

This month Leo club has backpacked for kids. The members of the club meet in the cafeteria during fourth period a few Fridays through the year and pack food and snacks for students who qualify for the backpack program. The Leo Club just took part in on backpack program on October 14, 2016, and will take part again on February 3, 2017. The Leo club has many other activities planned between now and February.

“Community members usually approach me about service opportunities or sometimes members come to me with ideas for service. I try to schedule a monthly service activity for students,” said Mrs. Huba, the teacher in charge of Leo Club.

Members will complete a roadside clean-up in October. Students are assigned a part of the road and they pick up garbage to make it look nicer.

“I do like how nice the road looks after roadside cleanup; however, the road is a little on the dangerous side and I worry the entire time students are on the road.  We have had very positive community feedback every time we have completed roadside cleanup.  Those who live on our assigned road are very happy with outcome,” said Mrs. Huba.

Mrs. Huba has a favorite activity is planting flowers and maintaining the gardens. The Leo Club even has their own members bring in flowers to plant.

Students who need or just want to help the community, Leo club is the club for you. Luckily October is growth month so come and join in room 201, Mrs. Huba’s room.
